A .430 (C/F) SINGLE-ACTION REVOLVER, MODEL 'PLANT'S PATENT ARMY CENTRAL FIRE CONVERSION', serial no. 2228
circa 1865 with later conversion and originally supplied with an additional front-loading lip-fire cylinder, with octagonal 5 7/8in. barrel, raised sighting rib signed 'PLANT MFG CO NEW HAVEN CT', the left hand side marked 'MERWIN & BRAY NEW YORK', applied white-metal blade fore-sight, sighting-groove to the top-strap, bronze frame with central hammer and spur trigger (return spring at fault), bolt-action ejector mounted to right of frame behind the plain iron cylinder and smooth walnut grips (left cracked)
